A warm, intimate space for experiencing a more sophisticated distilled spirit, wrapped in the look and feel of the 1930s.

The Bourbon Affair was born out of the desire of a few friends to bring the taste of bourbon and the nostalgia of the 1930s to downtown Findlay. After visiting many distilleries and gathering unique pieces of history at flea markets and antique shops, the owners of The Bourbon Affair came to KHID with everything they had gathered and asked us to kickstart the overall design.

Beginning with the selection of dark navy and gold details on the facade, this new place was to draw more seasoned drinkers with its unique style and warmth. The entire space is meant to be more intimate, featuring a fireplace with leather couches that invite groups to stay even longer. A sizable ornate bar not only houses the revered bourbon collection but also serves to anchor the room. Other details we incorporated include the herringbone wall covering that is reminiscent of a weathered men's suit coat, as well as vintage green and black wall tile in the restroom to enhance the 1930s feel to the space. We chose classic bentwood bar stools in a walnut finish and other furniture with pops of red and gold to liven the darker background upon which they sit. Custom stained concrete eludes to how it might have looked long ago after just having been polished for the day.

The Senate Cigar Lounge needed to strike a rich and sophisticated tone in order to encourage a relaxed environment for the enjoyment of fine cigars. A combination of deep maroons, dark wood wainscoting, and nail head details on the lounge chairs created such an environment. The red pendant light that is so amazingly tacky that it had to be displayed in the front window for all passersby to see; a welcome invitation to step back into the 1930s to a more sophisticated experience of distilled spirits.
